Rock Up Most Frequently Asked Questions

How much space do you need?

4m X 3m performance space with a sturdy level surface. 


How is it best to time things? 

In our experience wedding timings can easily slip over the course of the day. However, as this is normal, we're very flexible and view timings as a guide rather.  We normally advise letting us get set up by 8 pm at the very latest so we can make sure we fit in both of our sets and a short break without going over any curfews or our contracted time.  Also it’s best to have us play when food isn’t being served as it tends to leave an empty dance floor. This is of course subjective to your wants and needs for the evening but please be sure to agree all this up front with the band.

A typical arrangement would look like this;

Band arrives: 6pm 

Set up by: 7:30 pm

First set: 8pm - 9pm

Background music / DJ service: 9pm - 10pm

Second set: 10pm - 11pm

Background music / DJ service: 11pm - Midnight  


Can I pick the band's playlist?

You can pick your favourite tracks from our repertoire but we ask you please to let us know in advance what song’s you would like to hear. Any song’s not in our repertoire that you would like to hear can be learnt for an additional cost.


Where will you travel to?

Generally 3-Hour Radius From Bristol, although we will consider all distances.


Can I see you play live?

Unfortunately, we only play private shows! Although our promo videos are ‘live’!


Will you learn our special song?

We are able to learn requests and special songs for an additional fee. Please give as much notice as possible for any requests so we make sure we have enough time to rehearse them. There may be certain songs  where we're unable to reproduce all of the sounds of the record and will create our own arrangement.


Is the video on your website a true reflection of the band?

Absolutely! That video was recorded 100% live at Aive HQ and we will definitely sound like that on the night.

Are you able to DJ in between sets?

Yes! If you book us within 7 days of enquiry we offer it FREE as a thank you. If outside this window, there will be a small fee.


Can we make DJ requests in advance to my event?

Absolutely, make sure that you tell us any specific versions you would like or better yet, send us an MP3!


Can we use your sound system for speeches?

If pre-arranged you can use our PA for speeches, but please note that it must take place near the band (our cables won’t reach that far!) and there may be additional costs for arriving earlier to set up the PA.


What equipment do you use? 

Monitors: HK Audio Premium PR:O D 1 x 12 Cabinet
Sub: 18inch active sub Behringer 
Mixer : Behringer X18 X Air


Do you have lights?

Yes, we do! 5xFun Generation SePar Quad LED RGB UV IR


How long do you play for?

We provide 2 x 1 hour sets or 3 x 40min sets depending on your preference and then any additional acoustic performances you would like to book additionally.


What time do you start and finish?

We will normally arrive at 6pm and finish at 12am. The timings of the night will be in accordance with your schedule but we get that things tend to run late so we tend to roll with it.


How long do you take to set up?

We request 90 minutes for our set up to ensure safety and quality.


Can I provisionally book you?

We are unable to hold dates provisionally. We operate on a first come first served basis, so if we do get another enquiry for the same date whilst you are deciding, you will be given first refusal.


What if the band split up before my event?

We are professionals and will honour any agreements and contracts we have already signed whether it means replacing one member with another professional.


Can my sisters/bosses/daughters dog sing with your band?

They may, but this must be arranged up front and must be a track from our repertoire. Any special requests will be charged extra.


What will the band wear?

We will wear the kind of attire you see in our promotional photos as we want to look like a band not like we’re in the wedding! Any special clothing requests must be discussed with the band in advance and we don’t guarantee we’ll comply. 


Does the band have PAT and PLI certificates?

Yes, we have PAT and PLI and can provide the Certificate upon request. Our Equipment is PAT tested annually and collectively as a group by the same provider so ensure all equipment is safe to use.


How much does it cost to book the band?

It really depends on where you are and what you would like at your event, please see our band page on Alive Network for details.

Does the band have any specific requirements?



What type/size venues are you able to play at?

Small or large, our equipment can handle it.


How loud will the band be?

We always try to play to the size of the room and these days it is becoming increasingly popular for venues to have limiters that have the final say in how loud we play. If we are too loud, just tell us! 


What is the band power requirement?

If we could get at least 2 double wall sockets, 1 at either side of the stage.performance area, that would be great, otherwise we’ll have to deal with what we have. If it’s a marquee or some other outdoor event, please make sure you have discussed power requirements with your supplier, and that there is an extension running into the area we will be playing in.
